Nestled within this DD sea are a whole bunch of icons to beautify your desktop. They're based on Renderer's "button icons." They look exceptional as replacements for alias's, especially as they are smaller than a full icon representation. Just open the one you want, select just the colored portion and copy it. Go to the alias and do a Get Info; select the icon box in the top left and Paste. That's it.
There's a blank button so you may make your own buttons. Just duplicate it (command-D), double click on the new resource, and paste in whatever suits your fancy. If you have an application, etc. in mind, grab the isc8 resource from it and paste that in over the blank; center it, fill in white spaces if desired and, voila, another button.
